Privacy policy
DocuSend (“we”) provides electronic signature services at docusend.ca. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What we collect
- Account holders: name, email address, company (optional) and a hashed password.
- Documents: the files you upload and the field values signers enter.
- Signers: name and email (provided by the sender), adopted signature and initials, IP address, browser and device information, and the time of each action.
- Usage: basic server logs needed to operate and secure the service.
Why we collect it
To deliver documents for signature, to record evidence of each signature in an audit trail and certificate of completion, to send notifications about envelopes, to secure the service and prevent misuse, and to meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal information and we do not use document contents for advertising.
Where it's stored
Documents and records are stored in Canada (Montréal). Some service providers that help us run DocuSend, such as email delivery, may process limited information (for example, a recipient's email address) outside Canada, under contractual safeguards.
Retention
We keep envelopes and their audit records for as long as the sender's account is active, so the evidence stays available. Senders can delete drafts and voided envelopes at any time. When an account is closed, its documents are deleted within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep them longer.
Your rights
You can ask to access or correct your personal information, or withdraw consent where applicable, by writing to privacy@docusend.ca. If a document was sent to you by a DocuSend user, that sender controls the document, and we'll help route your request to them.
